The home page frequently freezes or only partially loads. You have to go back out and then come in again to get the full page.

this website redesign is TERRIBLE. there is no logical flow and clearly no usability analysis was performed. as an alum, i didn't access the old website that often, but every time i come to this one i get frustrated. really, what were you thinking.

Please do shrink the top portion of the page; it takes up a lot of room---as many comments have indicated. The words "Bold", "Inquisitive", etc. are nice but my concern is that they become trite after some time. The bottom portion of the home page really contains the interesting news and should be given more space. Nice color scheme but perhaps the page is not "Bold" enough in terms of grabbing the person's interest. Logo is lost in this scheme.

I would like to see the professors also featured on "meet a deacon", as well as graduate students. This would give more depth and also display Wake Forest as a cohesive undergraduate and graduate community. More detail on current research at the university, whether conducted by students or faculty, would also be helpful.

The homepage takes WAY too long to load; I can't click to read more about a story until it all loads. Please do something to help it load faster. I don't know if it's the images or the programming. Help!

I definitely think you guys are headed in the right direction, but I'd encourage you to be careful about the size of the images you're using on the homepage (in terms of the file size, not necessarily screen size). I'm using a T1 connection, and even with that fast of a connection, the rotating photos don't always fully load before the next photo pops up.

I think the "meet a deacon" page needs a lot of work. The page should tell us more about student's accomplishments at wake and the world and how Wake has helped them with these accomplishments. Additionally, there need to be many more minorities.

I love the resdesign. It's clean, easy to navigate, and it well represents a place I where I have developed meaningful relationships, both professional and personal. I know the work that went into this was a work of dedication and commitment. With our technology we are always changing and so this process must never end. But it simple, directed, and not overstated.

Amen, Interested Alum @ May 8th, 2009 at 8:12 am. The design sufferes from a clash of "ideas" and "what works". Always go with what works. While nice, those words have no place on the Web site. Maybe inside the image, but not below as tabs. The "Commencement" tab should... when clicked... yield an image with commencement information on it.

A big ditto to what Interested Alum said. Same deal: I like the words in theory but something gets lost in the translation. It loses the real connection to what the stories are and also makes me visit the site less because while it looks "nicer" it isn't as user friendly. Maybe this is something you'll fix this summer?
